Just Say No No.
I travel to Bloomington for business as well as dozens of other locations around the globe. Thai is one of my very favorite foods, but it comes second to my love of good service when tips are to be paid.
When I arrived I stood at the front counter while the waitresses meandered around to the sparsely populated and decorated dining room. Only after waiving an arm at the hostess was I able to grab her attention as she waved to me from across the room to be seated. I thought nothing of it as I headed to the men's room. The bathroom was not very clean yet I decided to proceed to my table and overlook the lack of sanitation in the lavatory. When guys are hungry enough, even the most classy will trade hygiene for a good meal.
After finding my table, I made eye contact with my server each time she passed. Again, hungry, I bit my tongue and scanned the menu once more. Reasonable prices read like a Chinese buffet and the menus like a corner diner in Winchestertonfieldville, BFE. Nevertheless, a few reviews stated that the food was worth it.
While the under-crowded dining room waited for their orders to be taken and food to arrive, I sat trying to grab the waitresses attention. After 10 minutes of this, I made eye contact with the server once more as I waved and quietly walked out the front door. Upon reading a previous review about the owner keeping all of the tips, I am not surprised at the servers' behavior.
I would not have written this review had I not been ignored for so long by the wait staff. The server was far more concerned with chatting up her friend at the adjacent table than with the job at hand. Call me a snob, but anyone would have been greatly annoyed by this point.
I found a wonderful little hidden gem called The Thai House where I had fast service and delicious authentic food for possibly $1 more. You can find my review on TripAdvisor where you WON'T find Na Na Thai.
Great Food, Great Ambience, Amazing Service.
his is by far one of the best meals in Bloomington. The restaurant is spacious. Located in a plaza, it is definitely a gem inside - with clean, trendy, and tasteful decor. The music is gentle, and suits the mood. The food was quite delicious (although the spring rolls lacked zing, and the pad thai was a little overcooked). However, the green curry was phenomenal, as was the fresh Tom Yum soup.
The service, however, was phenomenal, and what made this an exceptional experience. The waiter was very courteous and polite. He went out of his way to accommodate our preferences (vegetarian + spicy), inquiring whether we'd want egg or not etc.
Definitely a must recommend for people seeking great food in a great setting
Great Thai food at a reasonable price.
Best meal I have had in bloomington so far. Authentic, quiet atmosphere and good service. Ordered pad thai and red curry. Perfect amount of spice. Overall a good meal.
