Shannon's is a down home good food restaurant..
No trip to Bloomington would be complete without a breakfast at Shannon's. We try to get down to Bloomington about once every two months to visit our family there and we always have at least once breakfast there. Why? Shannon's Hash Brown. What is a Shannon's Hash Brown? Well, they take a platter and cover with Hash-browned potatoes, then they cover it with the meat of your choice (bacon, sausage or ham), then they cover that with cheese sauce and sausage gravy and for an extra 99 cents they'll cover that with two eggs. It is a heart attack on a plate, but well worth dying for. I've never had the buffet, but I'm sure it's OK. I just love the hash brown. We usually get great service and always get great food.
Not fancy, don't expect haute cuisine, but you will be very well fed for a very reasonable price. And for goodness sakes, get the Hash Brown!
over all good service.
I highly recomend shannon's five star, I've aten there hundreds of times. The food is very consistant, their employees are polight. their food is home cooked, they have a buffet every saturday morning an sunday morning. The buffet is excelent, the buffet is kept full. i think out the times i been there i only had one problem, my son didn't get his eggs cooked just right but we told them and fixed it right away. but it is like everything after many times its natural that something could go wrong. i'm not saying that you can't get better food at a five star italian restaurant but if you want excellen food at the right price with good service go to shannon's
Good Food, Good Service, Good Prices.
We love going to Shanon's for dinner on weeknights. Their food is good and the ladies working there are nice and service is typically very prompt and the bill is reasonable. There specials include entree, mashed potatoes & gravy, a veggie and a roll. Pretty good for $5.50. It might not be fancy inside but is very clean and simply decorated. For a no fuss dining experience for couples, family, singles, etc, I definately recommend. I'm more partial to dinner there than breakfast however. I like the home-cooked comfort food : ) They do also have salads and lighter options as well.
Shannon's kinda sucks.
On the outside, Shannon's looks really tiny, but it's surprisingly large on the inside. There is no atmosphere at all. The food is very plain and greasy diner like without the delicious flavor.
Breakfast at Shannon's is an interesting experience. The food quality varies. There is a buffet on the weekends and the restaurant definatly caters to that. The service is friendly and family oriented. A smoking section mixes with the non-smoking area. Lunch is a good value and is of good quality. The menu is very simple and geared towards the "blue-collar worker". Parking can be a problem on the weekends.
