Best Bar In Bloomington

by Wade68

I don't know where the last two reviews came from, but if they had that sort of experience at Fat Jacks they must have been acting way out of line. I've gone to this bar for 10+ years and have always been treated with respect. The food, service and selection of Beer and Liquor is second to none. Oh, they are also celebratibrating thier 15th year in businness this year with a party on May 19th! They must be doing something right because I'm always among a good crowd of people! See you there!

A Bigoted and Racist Bar

by Coelhen

Apart from the decor or the beer selection, this place is altogether bad when it comes to their staff and management. I was told by a red haired manager in the dance room amidst a volley of racial slurs including but not limited to: referring to me as a "dog", "white trash", which he followed with a whistling and a snap of his fingers and began to point to the floor. I had been dancing on a raised platform which he had been allowing others(female patrons) to dance on. A clear case of sexual discrimination; but I suppose it would be easier to grow some breasts. When I complained and asked to see his manager on account of his rude remarks, he claimed he was the manager, and told me to "f__k off." All other bar staff were unhelpful (no one was even apologetic, they merely told me to leave). If this weren't enough, I later witnessed several Fat Jack's employees, a bartender and two doormen participating in a fight that had erupted between two patrons, not mitigating but actively siding against one of the patrons (who happened to be covered in tattoos and piercings).

It would seem that a passive approach and dispersal would be the most effective, unless of course the bar staff of fat jack's has some especial bigotry towards people they consider too poor or too "white trash". As a rule, I don't enjoy people hiding behind the law while they talk down to me like an animal, insulting my ethnicity, or commenting on my socio-economic status.

This is the only manner I can express my dissent, If this angers you, write a review, let people know and send Fat Jack's out of business.

fat jacks serving food

by jaques26

I just tried the food at Fat Jacks! Let me tell you it is not your average pub food. They offer a Muffaletta sanwich that is better than any I had in New Orleans and they offer 4 different styles of BBQ on the smoked pulled pork sanwich.

All reasonably priced. In fact everything on the menu is under $10. By the way the $10 item is Smoked Trout and worth every penny. Of course I always finish with a pint of one of their fine draft beer selections! Obviously I did'nt eat all this in one sitting, so yes I've been back and will keep going!

WARNING: this bar is a waste of your time and money

by janie23

This is usually the place all the college kids go. Cops are always lurking within the building and around it, waiting for drunks to make a mistake. The service for a beer takes atleast 3-5 minutes. They are understaffed on bartenders and the bouncers are extremely pushy. Shortly, after last call the bouncers are quick to get people out, even if you are trying to close your tab or as a designated driver they will make you wait outside(reguardless the weather). The managers do not care if the customers are unhappy and think that all compliants are just "drunk compliants". For the amount of cover to get into the bar and then be treated so poorly, it would be wise to spend your time and money else where.

  • Pros: the set up of the building and how the owner designed the rooms
  • Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE
