Normal >Jenni's Salon & Spa
Not worth the price.
I can't write a completely bad review because some of the stylists at Jenni's are incredibly talented and nice. However, the overall negativity in this place is not masked by the beautiful building.
The front desk staff is either ridiculously fake or downright rude. I've been completely ignored or treated like a nuisance by the short, gray-haired lady each time I've had to interact with her. I've come to avoid her as much as possible when I'm in there.
I also get the impression that Jenni is completely fake and a total gossip. Not to mention that the prices are just ridiculous. I'd rather take my business to a more professional salon with better customer service.
Upscale without being stuffy.... I have been to Jenni's several times and each time has been a very good experience. Living about a 1/2 hour away led me to try other places that were closer, but I keep coming back to Jenni's to get my hair done by an excellent young stylist named Katie. I just had a haircut last week and brought in a picture of me in a cut she did for me a couple of years ago and also a celebrity picture and asked if we could incorporate some elements of the celeb cut into the style we'd done before. She did such an amazing job!! I knew before she got it dried and styled that it was an excellent cut for me. She customized it for my very thin, fine hair and I have felt really confident in this look since then! Many have commented on the new 'do. She is also a great colorist, and I recommend her highly. The whole atmosphere is friendly, warm and upscale without being "stuffy". Just a classy place with classy people.
This salon is beautiful. Unfortunately I had a horrible experience. My highlights turned yellow and orange.
I asked the stylist to correct it but she said that it looked OK. She was young and not experienced and didn't
care. Her drying skills were horrible. She tried to use a very hot flat iron on my freshly colored hair.
She couldn't give me a dry without using a flat iron to get it straight. I found this salon lacking in
customer service and my stylist was not well trained. It was too expensive especially when I had to go
somewhere else to correct the color. Everyone looks great and the salon looks great but the service and
work does not measure up to the cost.
Excellent Salon!. Jenni has been my stylist since she was in beauty school! I do not feel that their salon overlooks mature women. I'm 60, and want to look my best, and that is what the salon is all about. Some of the younger stylists have done my hair, as well as Jenni, and I have NEVER been disappointed. The front desk personnel are always courteous! The nail technicians and masseuse are top notch. I totally disagree with another review. Please base your judgement upon the service given, and not junior high "issues".
Sad how this place has gone downhill.. I understand that they are opening a school and perhaps spread to thin. I was a customer however I will not return. To many young inexperienced "wild" kids there for me and my family. I was told by one of the new stylists that they don't really learn how to do "old lady" hair at the school! I was offened and shocked! I will go somewhere where I am appreciated and treated right! It is a nice salon to look at, but it is now filled with young people that seem to think that 38 is considered old and not "fun" enough to have nice hair!
Worst Experience ever at a salon!.
My experience here was horrifying. The front desk was not very nice. Grey haired lady looked like she had a scold on her face. Which found out later was the owners mother working the front desk. The owner was also there at the front desk, Jenni, who seemed nice but when I was leaving was at the front desk talking very loudly about a certain client that she did not want coming back to the salon because she didnt' like talking to her. I found that very UNprofessional. Even if its true....go to the back room.
I also didn't like that when I got there I found out that one of the stylists has a history with one of my friends and broke up their marriage. Who apparently also had a child with the husband of my friend while he was married. But that's besides the point. All in all its a beautiful salon and building but I think the employees AND the owner need to work on their professionalism.
Shampoo was great tho!
Kaetlyn is the best stylist in Illinois!!. Jenni's is great- the atmosphere is very classy, it's not too big or too small and I always feel very comfortable. The shampoo bowls are padded and in a separate, quiet room, which is a treat. I went to one other stylist there, and she was good, but one of my friends recommended Kaetlyn so I tried her. I will NEVER go to anyone else ever again! If she moved to California, I swear I would follow her- she is just that good. She is always full of new ideas, and genuinely wants you to look your best. If you have an idea for a hairstyle that she knows won't flatter your face-shape or hair-type, she will create something flattering. She is the perfect mix of classic and modern/trendy. Conversation with her is also very comfortable. I have never had a bad experience with her, and now all my friends and family that have gone to her LOVE her too! She really is the best of the best- sometimes I think she should be working in New York and not B-N. (But I'm glad she is!)
Amazing salon!. I went to Jenni's for my first time, just for a hair cut. I didn't know anyone that did hair there and I wasn't referred by anyone. I did however, look online for some places that other people had recommended and found Jenni's. I took the risk, and called them and I made an appointment with someone I didn't know. The employees make you feel right at home, it's very professional, classy environment, and the silent shampooing room is amazing. I haven't tried any of their other services yet, but I hope to very soon! I would recommend Jenni's Salon & Spa to anyone who wants to feel like a million bucks when they leave.
